GoToMyPC is a complete, turnkey solution that enables corporations to quickly, easily and securely establish a remote-access solution without the need for IT infrastructure changes.

GoToMyPC is a Web-based remote-access solution that enables users to remotely access their computers from any other Internet-connected computer in the world with almost any operating system through a secure, private connection.

The GoToMyPC Corporate solution is composed of three parts, the GoToMyPC Web site, GoToMyPC software and Administration Center.

 

Remote Desktop

How It Works

GoToMyPC is a hosted service, composed of four components.

1. Host PC – The host PC is the PC that a user will access from a remote location.

During setup, the user downloads and installs a small application on the host PC.

This application registers and authenticates itself with Expertcity's GoToMyPC broker.

For network address and firewall independence, the host PC software initiates all communication with the broker, issuing HTTP "pings" to check for new connection requests.

2. Client PC – The client PC is the PC used to access the host PC. On the client side, the remote teleworker or traveler launches a browser, visits Expertcity's secure Web site, enters a login and password, and clicks a "connect" button for the desired PC, which sends an SSL-authenticated, encrypted request to the broker.

3. GoToMyPC broker – The GoToMyPC broker is the matchmaker that listens for connection requests, mapping them to registered computers. When a match occurs, the broker assigns the session to a communication server. The client and server are supplied with the communication server address and a unique session ID. At this point, the client PC viewer - a tiny session-specific executable - is automatically loaded by the browser's Java Virtual Machine.

4. GoToMyPC communication server – This component relays an opaque, highly compressed, encrypted stream from client to server. The client and server mutually authenticate each other, using a shared secret (a computer access code) known only to them. For scalability, reliability and optimum performance, the broker load-balances sessions across a pool of geographically distributed communication servers.
